This is a beautiful facility with all of the amenities a cross country skier needs. It was designed and built for the 1988 Calgary Olympics. The trail network has been expanded since. The trails were wide, well groomed and sweet for classic or skate skiing. There are also fat bike trails and snowshoe trails. The lodge was very large with a fireplace, rental shop, cafeteria and an intriguing display of cross country skiing in Canada. The natural snow was augmented with snow-making. We skied 3 days, on skins, skating, and on waxed classic skis. The trails were quite dirty due to recent windstorms and a lack of recent snowfall. This made the skating and the waxed skis the best options. The views were spectacular and the black trails were challenging with fun ups and downs. Hope to go back another day! It was a perfect place to get ready for the Canadian Birkiebeiner ski race that was coming up on the 11th in Edmonton.

One day after skiing at Canmore we drove to the Spray Lake Reservoir which was beautiful with some ice fishing happening. See the pictures below.
